Get out there and fail!

Get out there and fail!

Simple yet not easy.

For those of you who don't know me personally, I am a professional success coach coaching real estate agents and people in sales for the past 15 years and my true passion and hobby is professional level International Latin Ballroom Dancing since forever.  I absolutely love it! Most recently, the years of rotating the hip joints have slowed me down.  Slowing down is not in my vocabulary so I went on a quest to find another sport I could get passionate about, that would take me well into old age, something I could do year round and be outside with nature.

I just love Tiger Woods and he is leaving such a legacy to the world.  So I decided to take up the game of golf.

Tiger makes it looks so easy.  NOT!!! For those of you who have taken up this sport know all too well when I say, ‘get out there and fail.'  Yet, failing just isn't in my repertoire.  I'm used to winning, or getting to the win quickly.

With this sport there is no such thing.  I have discovered it is a sport of failure.

Learning to play golf has humbled me and I had an epiphany... I realized the resistance I had to failing.  Once I made it OK to fail, and that failure is not bad it's directional, from my good friend Jim Byrnes, I started to enjoy the sport and the beautiful surroundings of nature around me and began playing a better game.

I'm now getting comfortable with my new relationship with the word "fail" and I'm really enjoying the game.  You can have terrible 17 holes and that one good one will keep you coming back.

You can only really enjoy life and be successful in anything when you make it OK to fail.

"Thanks!"

Thanks!

By Coach Patti Kouri

In today's world there is no doubt that there is a lot of negativity to put our thoughts on, whether it is within the real estate market, the financial market, the energy situation, terrorism, floods or fires.

Hummm!  Keeping in mind that the law of physics states, like energy attracts like energy, what we think about all day long expands.  It has been said if we are focusing on all of the negativity in the world or in our personal life, we will most likely bring to ourselves a future we are trying to avoid without even realizing it.....

I am here to bring you hope!

No matter what our concerns might be about the future - and we all get them - when we focus on the present, we find much to be grateful for. This feeling of gratitude always engenders feelings of peace and harmony, which is a healing event.

If you feel courageous, try this experiment...focus on all the pending doom around you and see how you feel.  Now try the opposite, focus on all the areas in your life you are grateful for.  How different do you feel?  Which feeling makes you feel happier?  Did you find it is easier to think quickly of something negative rather then something to be grateful for?  Focusing on the negative has become a bad habit that needs to be broken immediately if you desire a better future.

"Gratitude is the secret to life" - Albert Schweitzer

Dr Robert Emmons, author of ‘Thanks' makes a great case for the importance of gratitude in life and he has scientific evidence to prove it. Emmons opens his book with experimental evidence showing how gratefulness can increase happiness by 25%.

Given that gratefulness can increase happiness, and happiness is a very attractive energy and very contagious, once you start paying more attention to what you have to be grateful for, you will notice you are attracting money, love, better health, plus more and better opportunities to be happy.

Everything in life is a ‘cause and effect'.  Money and good health, are all effects.  The cause is a feeling of gratitude. happiness and joy. 'What', 'how' or 'if' you take action comes directly from how you are feeling.

In the 15 years I have been coaching real estate agents internationally, I have discovered that an ATTITUDE of gratitude, competent APPROACH and FAITH are the 3 most critical keys to success.  All 3 must strong.

Today I am observing that the agent who is frustrated with their results is paying attention to updating and improving their approach and skills yet not enough attention is being paid to upgrading and improving their attitude and expectations to that of gratitude and faith.  You are only as strong as your weakest link.

Let's stop and take a breath and turn this around.  Decide to be successful regardless of circumstances.  Continue to improve your skills, and this time add ‘Gratitude' and ‘faith' to the mix.    Notice how much more happy you feel and opportunities for success you attract.

To round this all off here are some tips for actually becoming more grateful.

1. Keep a gratitude journal
Sit down, daily, and write about the things for which you are grateful.

2. Remember when things were not as good
The way things are now may seem better in the light of bad memories. The contrast may encourage gratefulness.

3. Pray
Regarless of your religion, a ritualized form of giving thanks may help increase gratitude.

4. Reminders and accountability
Be mindful.  It's become a habit to not be grateful, So leave a note to prompt you to be grateful.  Tell the people closest to you to be accountability partners to remind you when you are not being grateful.

5. Commit to be grateful
Nothing happens without commitment

6. Think grateful thoughts

7. Acting grateful is being grateful
Say thank you, become more grateful. It's that simple.

8. Be grateful to your enemies?
It'll take a big creative leap to be thankful to the people who you most despise. But big creative leaps are just the kind of things likely to set off a change in you. Give it a try.

TOP TEN PROFIT HOLES

TOP TEN PROFIT HOLES!
*****************************************************************

1. PROCRASTINATION
Nothing happens without ACTION!" Decide what needs to be done and do it. Take the biggest thing you are procrastinating on each day and handle it first before anything else.

2. WORKING WITH ANYONE WHO IS BREATHING
Qualify, Qualify, Qualify! Identify the "Ideal Client" and work only with them.

3. OVERPRICED INVENTORY
Improve your presentation to price better up front. Create strategy for price reductions sooner then later.

4. SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME ON:
Income Servicing Activities and too little time on Income Producing Activities:
- 80% of your time ought to be on "Income Producing" activities
- 20% of your time ought to be on "Income Servicing" activities
Not the other way around.

5. NOT PROSPECTING
Not looking for business is the biggest profit hole. Find a way to get in front of people and know what to ask consistently.

6. TAKING TOO LONG TO RESPOND TO A CHANGING MARKET
Always check up on your expectations. Respond not react to the market. You cannot change your market. You can change what you do and when you do it in your market.

7. POOR SELLING SKILLS
On a scale of 1 to 10, what level of skill would you expect your plastic surgeon to have? Hopefully a 10, or you could stand to be scarred for life. What level of skill do you think your clients expect you to have? It is a 10. They are putting their biggest procession in your hands. If you are not at a 10, what would it take to get there. Then take action on improving it. Winging it and muscling it are profit holes.

8. POOR COMMUNICATION
The root to all poor relationships is no or poor communication. Speak up and train your clients to do the same.

9. NOT UP TO SPEED WITH CURRENT TECHNOLOGY
Get with it! The Internet is not a passing thing. It is here to stay. What are you missing by not having or using current technology? What is your fear. You have either excuses or results, get a coach to deal with the fear and get current with technology.

10. NO PLAN
Do you have a plan of action to get what you want? Remember your plan is your blueprint to your goal. A successful builder does not build a building without a blueprint. Create your plan and work your plan.
